Only one word can describe this set - remarkable! All fifty states are represented by 24KT gold plated 500 grain (32.04 gram) silver medals. Originally purchased at a cost of $15.00 per medallion (receipts available). Made available in 1970 and beautifully struck as only the Franklin Mint can.
These Proof specimens are individually displayed in a custom designed maroon velveteen and wood presentation case made especially for this collection. It has a clear plastic cover to keep your medals in place and help protect them from dust and outside air. Then there is a velveteen pad to place over this. Measuring 21 5/8 inches by 11 3/4 inches by 3 inches tall. The weight is approximately nine and one-half pounds with the medals included.
Designed with exquisite detail, the obverse of each has an outline of the state showing the location of the state capital and the state slogan. The reverse shows the state flower, the date on which it attained statehood, and the chronologic order in which it attained statehood.
Includes a pair of surgical gloves to safely handle the individual pieces as well as the original data sheet describing the set. The case shows bump marks and a few scratches and a mitred corner is slightly open. There is glue residue on the lid that held the personal nameplate in place. This residue should(?) be easy to remove. Sold as is.
