Gold Stamp
This U.S. stamp celebrates the 100th birthday of the Statue of Liberty. The stamp is a joint issue with France, the nation that presented the Statute of Liverty to the American people. Conceived by French historian Èdourd de Laboulaye as a tribute to American ideals, the colossal sculpture is an extraordinary artistic and scientific achievement. It demonstrates the genius of both Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the principal designer, and Gustave Eiffel, who planned the intricate support system for this copper clad statue.
This is a proof replica stamp on gleaming surface of 22 Karat Gold. The envelope includes the gold stamp, the actual issue stamp(s) with First Day Of Issue cancellation stamp including issue date, postal code and City, State. Also included on the envelope are the stamp title and Series, if applicable. The gold stamp is mounted on a velvet background card, inserted into the envelope and sealed. In addition to the issued envelope is a card (not shown) describing the stamp’s subject in detail. Both the envelope and card measure approximately 7.5 inches by 4.25 inches each. This is by The Postal Commemorative Society..
