To introduce the exquisite classical art of their country, the Chinese Directorate released a set of Ancient Chinese Painting "Peacocks" Postage Stamps.
This set consists of two stamps which are closeups of the elegant bird in the painting by Lang Shih-Ning (Giuseppe Castiglione). The value of these stamps is NT$20.00 and NT$5.00.
In addition, a souvenir sheet of NT$20.00, presenting the best part of the painting of two peacocks in a garden, was also issued, and is included.
This souvenir sheet measures approximately 4 inches by 5½ inches zoom in
These two postage stamps measure lightly more than 1½ by 2 inches. Each is placed within a page of a beautiful presentation book protected by clear plastic. Each stamp has its adhesive intact.
The book we mention (pictured below) speaks of the dazzling array of stamps based on Castiglione's works throughout the years. To learn more about this artist, painter, and architect click here.
All this will arrive in the original, highly decorative envelope, again representative of the painting of two peacocks.
