Every page, every cover, even the original Postal issued binder is in absolutely pristine condition. Beginning with the first cover in this book, the January 6, 1962, right through and including October 21, 1977, there is a history of the United states that is unequalled among philatic entusiasts. Measuring 4" thick it contains approximately 164 First Day Covers of the Postal Commemorative Society all bound within this offical collectors hard bound book.

Just for the beginners out there: There are three factors to consider when evaluating first day covers.

  • First is the stamp. With only a few exceptions, U.S. stamps issued since about 1945 have only a nominal catalog value, I know this. But, it is rare to find a collection as complete as this with just one purchase, and for this price (approximately 15¢ per cover).
  • Second is the cachet. Collectors normally demand covers that have a cachet unless they are from before 1930. A cachet is a printed design related to the stamp. Every first day cover in this collection includes this, a story card describing the stamp and the reason it was created.
  • Third is the cover. Collectors have an overwhelming preference for covers with no address. However, since these were issued only to Postal Society Members, these were not available without the address.

And, just for your information... a “Power Seller” at ebay is currently offering only the book (empty) for $35.00.
