This is the Princess Kaiulani four~piece Gold and Silver Proof Set -- a unique tribute to the last Hawaiian ruler. It has become one of the most popular in the series honoring Hawaii's royal family.
Of special importance: This limited-edition collection was officially authorized by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs of the State of Hawaii. What's more, each gold and silver Proof features the famous portrait of Princess Kaiulani that was originally created by an admirer in London almost 100 years ago. This portrait first appeared on a private series of coins and has been treasured ever since.
The Royal Hawaiian Mint is world famous for striking some of the highest quality Proofs, which was one important reason thier Proof sets sell out within days. To give you an idea of the care and attention that went into making this collection, each gold and silver Proof was struck an amazing four times to bring out the high relief images and mirrored bachground.
A little history: Princess Kaiulani's grace was said to be pure Aloha as she spread joy throughout the Kingdom of Hawaii. From her birth she appeared to live a storybook life, impressing everyone she met and on March 9, 1891 was proclaimed Heir Apparent.
Unfortunately, Princess Kaiulani lived a tragic life as predicted from her mother's deathbed. Kaiulani left Hawaii at an early age, lived abroad most of her adult life and died at the age of only 23. She will be missed forever.
This set consists of the one ounce .999 Fine Silver Princess Dala, a one quarter ounce Hapaha Crown, a one tenth ounce Hapaumi Crown and the one twentieth ounce Hapaiwakalua Crown of .9999 Fine Gold.
The set will come with the individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Bernhard von NotHaus - Mintmaster, Royal Hawaiian Mint, 1993, that guarantees this set is part of the limited edition. This same serial number appears on the special Presentation Holder. This precious collection will arrive in a custom designed velvet case and protected by a specially designed and embossed cream colored box.
