      This coin is the second of the Big Five wildlife coin series. It began in 1994 with the Lion, in 1996 the Elephant, 1997 the Buffalo and in 1998 the Leopard. They were available in 1oz through 1/10oz, Special Editions, Normal and 4-coin Prestige Sets. The Lion & Rhino coins were minted in 1994 & 1995 respectively and the Buffalo in 1997 which was awarded the winner of the “World's Most Beautiful Commemorative Gold Coin”.

      Purchased 10/23/1995, the certificate of authenticity states that no more than 6,000 were to be produced for worldwide distribution, although the current edition of World Coins has a revised number of an extremely limited 1,800. This is number 0894 and will come with the certificate of authenticity. Minted of 999.9 AU & weighing 31.107 grams, this Proof coin is encapsulated in hard plastic and will arrive in its original green presentation case and protective sleeve.
