Queen Elizabeth II

This is an original Canadian 1992 $100 Gold Proof coin minted by the Royal Canadian Mint for the 350th anniversary of the City of Montreal. The reverse, by Ontario artist Stewart Sherwood, commemorates the 350th anniversary by linking its proud past to its vibrant present. Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, Ville-Marie's founder and first governor of the island of Montreal appears in the forefront with a plan of the Fort of Mount Royal, while the skyline of the modern day city is featured in the background. The legend "Canada", "100 Dollars", and Montréal 1642-1992" completes the design.

Originally scheduled for a minting of 55,000 pieces, this amount was later reduced to an extremely limited 28,162.
