1992 Falkland Islands
Six~Coin Silver & Gold Proof Collection
Make Me An Offer I've Turned Down for $1,800.00 plus shipping & insurance
The Falkland Islands were first sighted by Captain John Davis 400 years ago during the great "age of discovery." Its amazing to think that even 100 years after Columbus discovered the New World... there were still islands out there that had never been seen before! In addition to the history and drama of Captain Davis' discovery, this collection also pays tribute to the liberation of the Falklands in 1982.
As part of the celebrations in 1992, the British Royal Mint was authorized to strike a limited number of legal tender commemorative coins for the Falkland Islands.
Only 275 complete collections of these six-coin Silver & Gold Proofs were authorized for worldwide distribution. A certificate of authenticity will be included in this purchase to show this is set number 107. Some of the coins within this set had a worldwide mintage estimated at only 400 pieces.

"1992 is a most important year for the islands. In it we celebrate the earliest events in their history, the 400th anniversary of the first reported sighting of Islands by Captain John Davis in 1592, and one of the most recent, the 10th anniversary of the liberation on 14 June 1982 of the Islands from Argentine occupation."
His Excellency The Governor W.H. Fullerton CMG 1 January 1992
