This 1979 One Hundred Balboa Gold Coin was issued in limited edition under the authority of the Republic of Panama and is legal tender in that nation.
The obverse of this 100 Balboa was redsigned this year for the first time since its introduction in 1975. The newly redesigned coin — La Tortuga de Oro — honors the handicrafts of the Curas, one of the oldest Indian tribes in Panama. It portrays a turtle in the unique hand-woven style of the Cuna women.
The coins reverse bears the official coat of arms of the Republic of Panama. This 100 Balboa was minted with a full Proof finish by The Franklin Mint. It will arrive with the original blue velvet presentation case and certificate of authenticity.
NOTE: The 'foggy appearance in the obverse of the 100 Balboa Coin is an effect of the plastic film that encases this Proof coin. When I pressed the plastic against the coin the amount of foggyness was reduced. I gaurantee this coin to look as it did the day it was minted, or your money back. Please, "zoom in" with the link above and view this coin with the presentation case for a much improved look.
